Audioboo: Smith School of Business Here I Come?

Secondly, I have many friends in the business school and they have encouraged me throughout the application process on how to study for certain tests and the importance of going to my TA's for help. Since many people are already admitted to the business school they update me on the advantages, hard classes, and best professors.  My friends work very hard in classes like Accounting and it helps me to aspire to get into the prestigious business school. I found a current student, Ivy Stein, in the school and interviewed her about what it is like to be in the Smith School of Business and how she got accepted from the start of her college career.

Ivy talks about the welcoming environment of the business school and the sense of community that it provides to her. She was fortunate to get into the business school when she applied to the University of Maryland.

  1. I had no idea that accounting was mandatory for business majors that were not going to deal with accounting directly, but I guess it makes sense seeing that if everyone understands accounting, the business can run more fluidly. Good job, by the way picking your person for the interview. The fact that he was a faculty member with a title adds a lot of validation to your post. Also, it was very subtle, and I don’t know if you meant it, but the title of your post ‘Audioboo: Accounting is the Language of Business’ almost directly quotes your professor (minus the audioboo part of course), but again it was a little detail that added validation. And as an appreciator of graphic design, I really enjoy the unique and structured layout of your blog. I’m not too sure if it’s a blogger preset, but I have yet to see one like it so good job and keep up the good posting.

  2. I really liked how you incorporated interviews from both a faculty member and a student, which allowed the reader to get two different perspectives. I'm also majoring in business, and I never really thought of accounting as anything more than a dreaded requirement. However, when Basu calls accounting "the language of business," I definitely understood the importance of accounting in the business world. You also did a good job of concisely summing up the content of the interview. Great posts!
